Yes — trefbal is simply the Dutch word for dodgeball. The core idea is the same: throw balls at opponents and dodge incoming throws. At Gron's we play the modern, international version using soft foam balls and WDBF rules.

What are the rules of trefbal?

We follow adapted WDBF rules. Two teams face each other across a court. If you get hit by a ball, you are out. If you catch a thrown ball, the thrower is out and one of your teammates returns. The team that eliminates all opponents wins the round.

Is trefbal safe to play as an adult?

Absolutely. We use soft foam balls that are specifically designed for dodgeball. They are much lighter and softer than the rubber balls you may remember from school. Impacts are minimal and injuries are very rare.

Do I need to be fit to play trefbal?

No special fitness level is required. Trefbal is a great way to get active because you naturally build stamina, agility, and reflexes while having fun. You can play at your own intensity.
