Trefbal is Dodgeball
If you grew up in the Netherlands, you probably know the game as trefbal. It is the same sport the rest of the world calls dodgeball — two teams, a set of balls, and one simple objective: hit your opponents while avoiding getting hit yourself.
At Gron's Dodgeball, we play the modern version of trefbalusing soft foam balls and rules based on the World Dodgeball Federation (WDBF) standards. Forget the hard rubber balls from your school gym — today's trefbal is faster, safer, and a whole lot more fun.
How Modern Trefbal Works
- Two teams line up on opposite sides of the court.
- At the whistle, both teams rush to grab the balls on the centre line.
- Hit an opponent below the shoulders — they are out.
- Catch a ball thrown at you — the thrower is out and a teammate returns.
- The round ends when one team has no players left, or when time runs out.
